Chinese blockchain platform and scalable decentralized application network NEO has set out its monthly global development report for the month of September. The report features the addition of Akka framework to the NEO-CLI 2.9.0 platform that was released last month. It discusses the CLI 2.9.0 model along with the Akka framework, the development of CNEO and CGAS along with development progress and project updates.
The major discussions from the development report are given below.
NEO-CLI 2.9.0 and Akka Framework
The featured focus for the report is the Akka framework. NEO elaborated that Actor model is used in the Akka framework to overcome limitations present in traditional OOP and it will help overcome the hurdles presented forward by a highly concurrent distributed system.
According to NEO, The NEO-CLI series comes in the form of packaged plugins which are aimed at enhancing the safety and stability of NEO nodes. It also helps to avoid many operational mistakes while making the application log and makes the wallet more simplified. Moreover, the application logs are stored in the form of levelDB which solves the “out of nodes” problem on the Linux operating system.
CNEO AND CGAS
NEO Global Development (NGD) has implemented CNEO and CGAS on the NEO blockchain to cater to a diverse set of asset types over an increasing number of DApps on NEO. According to the update, CNEO and CGAS are contract assets that map NEO and GAS (two global assets) to NEP-5 smart contract equivalents.
Development and general progress
NEO also discussed general software and project updates in the development report. The main features it covers are:
- Release of NEO and NEO-CLI 2.9.0
- Testing of NEO-CLI 2.9.0 and added documentation.
- Upgradation and deployment of CNEO and CGAS smart contracts.
- NEO VBP (vulnerability bounty program) launch.
- Auto management of offline packages enabled.
- Swisscom consensus node voted on TestNet.
- Adjusted NEO discord channels for easier navigation.
- NEO added to Blockfolio’s signals notifications.
NEO also announced in the report that a Global Development office has been established in Shanghai which is a milestone towards the rapid growth of NGD.
The extensive report, modeled in a new design based on community feedback gives timeline for interviews and livestreams with NEO founders Da Hongfei and Erik Zhang. Along with introductions to new team members, the report also updates users about the NEO events, workshops, hackathons, conferences, meetups and competitions held in the month of September.
