Why Blockchain is Going to be ‘The Thing’? According to John Belizaire, CEO Soluna

World’s first vertically-integrated blockchain computing company, Soluna is on a mission to generate eco-friendly energy in order to mine cryptocurrencies as well as support different blockchain platforms.

John Belizaire, CEO of Soluna, talked to BlockPublisher and gave his views on the future of blockchain and stated;

‘I have long term hopes for blockchain, it is not going away, it is going to be ‘The Thing’, there is no doubt about that and it will slowly but surely transform the world. I’m expecting in a 10-year window, we will see transformation on the order of multiple times and we will see some pretty significant advancements that will transform the world. To me this is pretty exciting because it means that there is a lot of room to participate in that transformation and we hope to be the infrastructure of a foundation, where we are playing a role and making all that happen, owning the underlying pipes and water systems that are going to power this new digital asset base city. It is a very exciting role to play as a company and that’s what gets me to participate in this space’.

Relating blockchain to the internet back in the 90’s, john added;

‘I’m keen on blockchain because it does something fairly interesting. The first time internet introduced as a fairly new technology, it was knitting new, there were new things that were added and it created this incredible revolution and it took about 20 years that resulted in the current state and that has led to pretty significant transformation. We can relate every single significant advancement in the computing space to the rise of the internet and the way software is delivered to customers today, is because of the internet. The fact that we now have a global workforce that is part of a global economic employee ecosystem, is the result of the internet as well. Global Crossing, the company that put all these pipes under the water to power e-commerce went bankrupt but it laid the infrastructure for allowing global employees to engage and it led to the whole outsourcing movement. Pretty much everything can be tied to the internet to the fact that we all carry 24/7 a connected device in our pockets and we can connect to billions of people in the world. Now scientists really look at from a computing perspective, it’s actually very challenging to introduce something new that hasn’t already been invented, so the  future innovation is really about combinational innovation. To create new things by combining existing things is a new and unique way. If we look at any new venture company that is being backed by some amazing venture capital companies and we look at their technology, it is just a combination of capabilities that already exists to solve a problem’.

Talking about how blockchain technology itself is a combinational innovation and stands on the existing technology, he said;

‘Blockchain has done exactly that, the blockchain technology is a new thing itself but it stands on the shoulders of existing technology that has been around for years. Cryptology, DAGs and DLTs, all of this together is creating this combinational technollogy and I think it is effectively a combinational innovation. Its ability to find use cases and applications for that urban innovate mission will only accelerate because we don’t have to build anything new. If we look at the Lightning Network, it is not a new network, it is just a new network that is layered on top of the bitcoin network. This acceleration I believe, will ultimately allow blockchain to enter just about every fabric that we see today, just like the internet did and significantly transform every industry on the planet in a significant way, how fast that occurs we can never predict. If you look at the search engines that were around back in the days, there were 15 of them and not a single one survived the internet and then Google emerged out of nowhere and basically created the same business model by leveraging and ultimately became the outstanding winner’.
