Digital content is ruling the internet currently. There is something for everyone. Whatever your beliefs, ideologies and inclinations maybe, even if they are just funny baby videos, memes, or the serious stuff, news, scandals, social movements, global crises or anything at all, there is definitely something for you. And not too little, but a lot. So much so you can sit down on your phone and scroll infinitely. This is funny right. You could crack your back sitting all day and the content would just not simply end. Ever.
Whether you are doing this intentionally, you are addicted or it is needed for your lifestyle or career choice or even if you are going through an unintentional consumption of the digital content you are in a trap. Everyday the internet, your browser and your mind shows you the same ideas, repackaged again and again, shown differently, same thing new angles, different people, different advertisers, but it is all the same.
The bottomless vortex of ideas is a bigger industry than you think it might be.
Internet literature, video clips, live streaming and paid knowledge have emerged as some of the many forms of digital content that we consume without questioning. There is a major replacement or at least challenging of the traditional schooling systems and agencies of social control with paid knowledge, such as your favorite IG influencer or YouTuber.
The new blockchain technology works on two levels to protect the consumer and the industry i.e the makers. One, it makes sure that the people enjoying are not trapped in dark patterns of the internet and are being shown the same content repeatedly so to brainwash them.
Two, it protects intellectual property of the makers in a way that the internet can not. Internet has clearly failed content makers because of heavy counterfeiting problems and copyright trolls.
An immense amount of content is internalized today for us to inform, entertain and distract ourselves, yet for decades the internet has unfairly treated these creators by exploiting their works.
For example, Kylie Jenner has repeatedly been seen wearing the same outfit better than less popular influencers and Aussie models and copying designers out rightly. In such cases the smaller designers fail and the big whales feed on their flesh and blood.
The counterfeiting of U.S. digital content such as music, film and books costs the U.S. economy over $60 billion per year. The global numbers are much larger since the U.S. is still a safer country for artists, well relatively. In reality, there has been no such place as a completely counterfeit free land. Because it was simply not possible.
Through blockchain customers can be guaranteed genuine benefits and features. It is possible for brands to lie on the internet. But, blockchain can take things two steps ahead and it can ensure that not just a fancy label or a marketing buzzword is used to manipulate the audience, there is actually weight to the statements and promises.
So, you can still be scrolling infinitely, but it can be better customized, less advertise-y and more creative than before.
