The Problem With Blockchain Games

Blockchain games completely redefine the relationship between players and developers by facilitating full and true ownership of in-game assets, cheap & safe item trading, cross-game compatibility of items & currency, and more. But, these games are struggling and they need to be made better by extensive effort and rethinking.

The games we see on blockchain are great in terms of their concept and what they mean or represent. But, these games are continuously boring people. There are a lot of them. And most of them are very unoriginal considering the most biggest USP they rely on is uniqueness and originality packaged as collectibles or assets.

We all like us a cryptokitty or a cryptofighter or a cryptobot, i mean there are so many that the list can not be made. The world is being rained on by these crypto based collectibles and none of them is reigning except one. A cartoon cat that has a code hidden under it and has digital attributes is fun, but it really can not do anything, well other than producing babies, being sold and being traded.

BitGuild is working on it, they say that there mission is to revolutionize the global gaming industry by creating a platform for a brand new class of games that live on the blockchain. They want to change the exploitative side to the collectibles, they want to make them multi dimensional and this means there is still hope om the technology.

These games offer poor game-plays, they lack in original and creative uses despite enormous potential and they are crippling each others ideas through intertextuality and replication, Decentraland and MegaCryptoPolis for example.

It’s all clever, but the games themselves lack visual appeal and looks. They look like a refuge from the 90s. Social gaming has gone so far beyond this that it feels like a massive step backwards. The kind that nobody would want to take, especially not those who like their games with a dash of pot of coco.

All of these issues and these well hypes and highly expensive games are not even well designed, bug free or fast and secure.

These are all very very serious issues. They can break the industry before it even has started. Nobody needs a bad start, because that means a definitive end and wouldn’t that be sad for blockchain technology that thinks it can live forever.

Not to scandalize it buy this industry needs love and care to be rescued!
