Okay so for those of you who don’t know; I love listening to podcasts. And, since radio times are almost obsolete we are saved by them. Working a job and university isn’t easy so sadly, the only time I get to myself is while traveling and since it takes me A LOT of time to commute, it’s just perfect.
And, so my love for podcasts continues. One day when I quickly wanted to understand how forking works and I was low on mobile data, I decided to look for a podcast that would explain it to me while I was standing in the bus, crammed between two ladies.
We spend most of our time in front of a screen, be it phone or laptop. So, podcasts are a win-win because they are so informative and can be enjoyed while multi-tasking.
If you are yet to discover some of the amazing podcasts, I welcome you to my list. I’ll try explaining what they mostly talk about, how they are unique and important for you.
If you’re a sucker for the British accent then I invite you to listen to this. Hosted by Ben Rees and Kevin Basham, they want to bring you matter regarding crypto and blockchain. Not only this but it’s even more relevant for people living in the UK as they explain the limitations that come with the English law.
They started podcasting in 2017 and have a range of projects in the pipeline.
Ben comes from a marketing and music tech background. He is the CEO of The Famous Company which is UK’s largest artist development business. He started with cryptocurrency back in 2013 when he made his first investment. Whereas, his partner, Kevin’s background is founding companies within emerging markets.
Their content focuses on a variety of discussions, education of different projects and interviews with all sorts of interesting people.
An independent journalist, Laura Shin, covers all things blockchain and crypto. Unchained started in 2016 while her shorter podcast Unconfirmed started earlier this year.
She has interviewed everyone who is anyone in crypto, industry pioneers across tech, financial services, healthcare, government, and other sectors. You can tell she is a journalism enthusiast and likes digging into issues and exploring potential possibilities for crypto.
But bear in mind that you can’t speed up on this one so take your time and you’ll have plenty to keep you thinking anyway!
This passionate duo left their job at New York Public Radio to launch Stable Genius Production and the ZigZag Podcast launched in June 2018.
It’s a mix of voice memos, taped conversations, and mini-stories about entrepreneurship, deciding how to find the balance between your values and your ambitions, building strong partnerships.
“Documenting the process of starting a new kind of media company, and trying not to be bad mothers, bankrupt themselves, or destroy their wonderful creative partnership. And when their first funding comes in the form of cryptocurrency, things get really interesting”, is what they said when asked what they hope to achieve for themselves from this project.
Manoush (award-winning host of ZigZag and co-founder of Stable Genius Productions. Investigating how technology is transforming humanity is her passion and expertise) and Jen (co-founder of Stable Genius Productions, creator of groundbreaking podcasts and the first Werk It Festival) give off a friendly vibe, which you can sense from their voice. The kind of cool seniors that you hang around within your college days, the ones you can be reckless with but they also keep you in check.
They truly capture the essence of story-telling through audio alone, while simultaneously inspiring and educating you along the way.
