“Of course we’re looking to launch an exchange!” – Roger Ver

CEO Bitcoin.com and mostly referred to as “Bitcoin Jesus” Roger Ver has been recently in the news about considering to launch his own cryptocurrency exchange. This proposed exchange will be purpose built for his most valued investment, Bitcoin Cash. While many have taken his consideration about a BCH-powered exchange as major news, Roger doesn’t find himself over amused at the thought of it.

Speaking to BlockPublisher’s media partner EAK TV at the Decentralized 2018 event in Athens, Roger revealed that it was about time that this happened and there should be no surprise over it. He said:

Of course we’re planning to launch an exchange, [we have planned that] from day one. We’re Bitcoin.com, of course we’ll have that [our own exchange].

About the timeline of it happening, however, Roger remained rather skeptical. When asked about it, he joked “next Tuesday, at 4 pm” and only after registering a short laugh, began to explain better:

Of course we’re going to [do it soon], we just need to get all the pieces of the puzzle together to be able to do that.

Roger’s love affair with BCH wasn’t that straightforward as it now seems when we see him proactive for the Bitcoin forked cryptocurrency. He earned the title “Bitcoin Jesus” after becoming one of the earliest investors in the coin and controversially switched loyalties to BCH in August of 2017. Now, it is widely believed that Roger considers BCH to be closer to Satoshi  Nakmoto’s original vision for Bitcoin.

However, the ideation to move towards a BCH pioneered exchange seems like a logical decision for Bitcoin.com as it is already running a mining pool and a cryptocurrency wallet that supports both BCH and BTC. That being said, it may also prove to be a risky pitch, certainly when we consider the decline BCH has faced in the whole of 2018. Bitcoin Cash saw a mere $3.7 million in BCH payments in May 2018, down from an all-time high of $10.5 million seen in March. Comparatively, Bitcoin has fared much better.

Still, Roger remains hopeful that Bitcoin Cash will eventually dethrone Bitcoin Core as the leading crypto asset and the move behind the BCH exchange is merely a step towards that from Roger Ver. Watch this space.
