Not Looking Forward to the Debate, Says Founder of Coinhost

Founder of Coinhost, who is also the business development associate at Limestone Networks, Machen Mathews explained his stance on the upcoming debate between Vitalik Buterin and Nouriel Roubini. He told BlockPublisher his plans and sentiments related to the debate. Upon asking whether he looks forward to it or not, he replied:

Looking forward to it? No. Could care less.

He further told BlockPublisher his future doings related to the debate as he clarified:

Will I listen  or read? — of course.

Recently, a disagreement rose up between a professor at New York University’s Stern School of Business Economics, Nouriel Roubini, and ethereum’s co-founder, Vitalik Buterin. To settle the differences, a debate between both, Buterin and Roubini, is scheduled and Kevin Pham is selected as the moderator for the debate.

Things stirred up initially when Roubini interacted with Buterin on Twitter. He tweeted to Buterin and expressed his thoughts related to Buterin’s claims for the first time. In that tweet, he criticized ethereum’s co-founder for not disclosing Proof-of-Stake (PoS) and delaying it for quite long. Apart from this, Roubini raised objections for decentralized and secure systems. He claimed that a system possessing all, decentralization, security and room for scaling, didn’t exist. Apart from this tweet, he tweeted many posts that showed his opposition to cryptocurrencies.

Previously, Roubini had presented his stance against cryptocurrencies at the U.S. Senate committee where he regarded blockchain technology as a ‘hyped tech’. Moreover, he also regarded bitcoin as a ‘scam’ at the committee.

Buterin responded to Roubini by replying him on Twitter. Buterin said that the design for scaling blockchains was ready and its development process was in progress. When he was asked for a debate by Roubini, he accepted Roubini’s offer and even nominated the moderator. He further clarified his choice by explaining that Kevin Pham was equally biased against both, Buterin and Roubini, so this made him an ideal moderator. Unlike Roubini, Buterin had been active on Twitter and occupied in replies and tweets that are in favor of the cryptocurrencies.

Many enthusiasts have been giving their opinion supporting either of the two while impatiently waiting for the debate. Although Machen Mathews stated that he will be reading or listening to the debate, he has not taken any side. According to him, he is bothered or concerned with the debate to a great extent.
