This world is not Coney Island and people of color are not the kings and queens that so called inclusive clothing, make up and lifestyle item advertisements would have you believe. Please save yourself the effort of first believing and then being disappointed by the false promises of meritocracy of the 21st century. We all know how shamelessly far the lies go. But, somewhere in the goodness of our hearts we find a way to nurture the promise of advertisements and branding to have us believe in the strong good faith that lies within us.
But, still, stop. This will not do you any good. At least not how they promise you, but by bending the books to your liking. The possibility is at your disposal. Only people aiming to make a real world difference are allowed to enter, this is serious stuff and no, we are not conspiring, we are determined to attack our social and entrepreneurial realities with a sword that chops hierarchies, color marginalization and gender binaries.
Diversity and inclusion is important, and it’s worth the investment. But, we no longer believe that it is jobs or consumers who can bring about a change, it is the business builders (big or small) who do all the good work (too less currently, way toooo less). The public wants things but it will rarely say it. You can provide them services and advertise but what good will you be if you are advertising? Perhaps, a time will come where you run out of ares to cut cost and instead of values you too fall prey to the capitalist plague.
There has to be a way out. No offence to you. And, yes there is. There is one thing that is disrupting the idea of online trust. We would urge all business thinkers, male, female, transgender, cisgender, LGBTQIAPK, To think. Think of all the times that you were marginalized, in class, at work and in life.
Take a deep breath and then look around you. You can stop it all. You can be the creative genius, the mad scientist and the craftsperson of the age, you can disrupt humanity. Come and try it.
Looks like a invite only party, so be it if this solves anything, (which we surely think it would).
We know for sure, that meritocracy is shit a** dead in the graves.
Conversation on gender, sex and orientation is struggling for traction in the tech industry. People are suffering from overwhelming nausea, Firstly, of being marginalized, and secondly, of being gas-lit in that big hot pit of marginalization.
The quality, relevance, and impact of the products and services put out can be improved by you. We are calling all the people, everyone, all demographically representative people feel like things are missing, and rules of play need to change to come to build them. This is not change comes from within kinda thing, the mess has gone beyond the scope of jobs at traditional powerhouses who are nothing but capitalist mousetraps and patriarchal old boys networks.
We can only do better if our teams are more informed, creative, and critically engaged. We can do better if our teams are us.
