It is Saturday morning, it is raining outside, a bowl of cereal and some milk is on the table, it is the X-Men marathon day in the house. Everybody is sitting on the couch either watching or just playing games on their phones to kill time. Suddenly, Magneto says to Professor Xavier that:
(Hu)Mankind Fears What It Doesn’t Understand.
Within seconds of listening to the statement, the whole world makes sense and nothing is vague anymore.
The Tech Anxiety
People are scared of new things. They rarely know the mechanics of the new subject, but they will most likely have an opinion. Their defense mechanisms play up, and they start creating stories that scream sour grapes. But, people listening to them do not see the sour grapes hiding in plain sight, all they see is the words that whisper that the new idea is difficult, unsustainable and absurd. This is what the general opinion slowly becomes and soon, public anxiety takes over the subject. This is true about all nuances. All revolutions and all status quos before any movement begins.
People fear what they do not understand. How simply put, how clearly said. How precise. People do not care one bit to google and first try to understand what the rave about technological advancement is but, they will speak in a phobic language about the tech out loud for tons of other sloppy lazy heads to listen and form opinion. This happens everywhere.
Happened with televisions. Happened with smartphones. And the internet and so on. Things get more and more accessible for all, more and more available to all. Minorities used to have the privilege to communicate, to own private phones, to use expensive dial up internet and to use the banking services. It is now happening with blockchain and cryptocurrencies.
People who do not even know what blockchain is will tell you that cryptos are scams and they are lies. This is the kind of world we live in. And who is in charge here. I will complain to them about this.
Power Hungry Ruling Classes
With each new technology the minorities who were elite broke out. They started to fan out ideas of anxiety and questions of morality and implications of each technology, leaving scars behind that even today show stains on several societies such as conservative Indian or Nepalese. It is either the threat to their own power or the complexity of science that people battle with that results in a great deal of ambiguities and very absurd opinions and illogical mystical folk around tech in general.
When you hear something fishy, why don’t you ask them: oh wow hey, where’d you hear all the fun stuff about cryptos?
The power of one individual means that the other has less. This means that as all human beings become equal and get an equal access to say the banks via Bitcoin, then traditional power holds weaken. Banks and their monopoly is no longer relevant because people happen to have options now. So, clearly this is a good thing. But, not for the people who love to attain a little extra power and try to play god in politics and economics in the lives of the powerless.
So, any rumor you hear about cryptos or blockchain has either made its way to you because it was sour grapes for a person, anxiety for another or just greed and selfishness of those supporting the caravan of lies and false funky folklore.
*Block Publisher or Unfiltered, neither is linked or associated with Marvel comics or X-Men in anyway. It is just a pure coincidence that i was watching it as i had a very big crush on cryptos.
