How Does Decentraland Work?

Decentraland is a virtual world as we have already established. We love how it works. It’s the Future of gaming and Virtual reality.

It is based on the oh-so-popular and stable Ethereum Blockchain. It is the second Blockchain that rose after Bitcoin. This network is used to store information, (like a cloud but not a cloud) The information becomes rock solid like with any other blockchain, it becomes almost impossible to mess up, steal or alter.

The main information that is stored is the data about land ownership and its content.

It is simply managed by the users, the developers the back end geniuses, for the population and expansion purposes. It is self run and self subsisting technology and mechanism wise.

Users use MANA to buy any empty land parcel. The land tile is not only what can be bought, users can buy goods and services from other users. These include services such as casinos where you make real virtual friends and earn real cryptos, products such as building materials and resources to develop your land and so much more.

The tile of the land is 10m x 10m, or 33ft x 33ft. Users can build upwards without any limits. This means that the world’s tallest city will be Genesis.

Like any other blockchain, Ethereum offers smart contracts. These are self run businesses that do not require human beings. Or human less corporations. These operate on a consensus developed by the team, but these do not change as per their needs and biases. This is a democratic set up.

The Ethereum smart contract validates that modifications were made by the owner of the land.

People can make content and sell it to the citizens of the world. This adds beauty, color and value to the virtual world. It adds objects, ideas and products that help in making the hyper reality more hyperactive and more realistic. The content is distributed using the IPFS network, while data hashes are stored in the blockchain. Making theft impossible, duh!

So, why is land scarce? Nobody would buy it because. Value is created by indivisibility and scarcity. So it is limited. If it were unlimited then it would be boring and too large and no map could be appropriately constructed to make items and places seen as per their worth. ‘Without scarcity, most land would be left abandoned, which would hurt content discover-ability and the user experience overall.’

Currently, users and interested buyers can buy land from here. The map is available to help build discover-ability and help suitors find best matches in their match made in this world land-counterparts there.

‘Decentraland is for artists, gamers, students and online communities.’

See where you fit. Are you a gamer, game maker or game changer?
