How Blockchain Can Change the Dating Scene?

Whether you are a forever alone looking for your soul mate or you are an avid dater looking for something casual, your dating world is going to change forever courtesy, blockchain. You read that right, turns out blockchain is capable of doing more than just filling up your wallets and fundraising, it could potentially change the way we date online.

With transparency being the center of the blockchain tech, online dating could become more transparent and honest as well. Now wouldn’t that be nice? Here are some aspects that are vulnerable to change in the digital world of dating.

Authentic Identification

Wouldn’t it be a real downer if the cute guy/girl that tempted you into swiping right turned out to be a bot? Or worse, the entire profile that blew you away ended up being nothing more than a fraud?

The blockchain-powered dating app could instill more confidence in people that the person on the other end is in fact, an actual human who they say they are. Blockchain can only get you this far, but for the rest of the game, the ball is still in your court.

What you see is what you’ll get

You can wave goodbye to the times when you showed up for a date looking for a hot 25-year-old with the soul of an adventurer, who in fact turns out to be a 50-year-old man who likes soup, not there’s anything wrong with that, but you get my point. Images on a blockchain-powered app could be verified using a timestamp.

The end of ghosting

Blockchain could incentivize dating, in the sense that people would be rewarded just for showing up on the date and punished for ghosting out on one. For example, to ensure both parties show up on the date, each person could deposit tokens, like a dating escrow account. If one party fails to show or ghosts, they would lose their tokens. If both parties show up, they could also be rewarded for a basic act of human decency, honoring a commitment and showing up, which in the dating world can be quite rare.

If cupid had a heart

The online dating thrives on its power to match two compatible people, the more accurate the match, the more successful the app. New apps are already utilizing blockchain’s power to play cupid. Ponder is a game that allows a person to play matchmaker, where they can win real money for making successful matches. The more great matches you make, the more money you win. Huh, so much for matches being made in heaven.

With blockcahin tech already affecting different aspects of our lives, it should be interesting to see what more changes it will bring to the dating world.
