Holochain’s Hackathon is Coming to Amsterdam for Promoting Decentralized Applications

Holochain, a platform built for providing users with the ability to develop decentralized applications (dApps), is coming to Amsterdam for its hackathon on September 21-23. In this weekend of training, participants will be educated regarding the usage of Holochain platform for building decentralized applications. Information will be provided regarding the complete Holochain architechture, design priniciples and app development tools.

The hackathon is aimed at enabling people to build dApps over the weekend. Previous knowledge of JavaScript or Lisp will be helpful for the participants coming in. Project co-founder Arthur Brock will also be there on the hackathon for getting people familiarized with building dApps in the Holochain framework.

All the participants are advised to come with an idea for a decentralized application on the hackathon. Even if someone does not know how to code, he/she is incentivized to come in this hackathon by the company in order to get familiar with the entire ecosystem. With Holochain’s developer support team and project-groups, everyone has a chance to become a part of building a decentralized application on the platform.

Holochain’s aim to is eliminate the control of corporates from the users’ lives. The applications developed on Holochain (hApps) are aimed at eliminating the middlemen and third parties from users’ life. As stated by the company:

Holochain applications (hApps) are held entirely by people. No trusted third parties. No central points of failure. They enable direct architectural consent and cryptographic communication that are low risk, for less cost. Each agent owns an immutable hash chain and stores public data as a monotonic DHT node. Think lightweight, secure decentralized computing possible on mobile devices!

The coming hackathon by Holochain aims at giving the participants the exposure to the decentralized infrastructure and enabling them to build applications that eliminate the intervention of central controlling parties. Holochain’s major aim is to promote user autonomy across a distributed web.

The entire event is expected to be one roller coster ride for the developers. As per what to bring on the event, it is stated on the event page that:

Bring your passions, skills, and ideas for next-generation apps, businesses, and social systems!! And a water bottle ; )

The event is currently sponsored by Impact Hub Amsterdam and the complete details of the event can be found here.
