Artwork Sold For 1 Millisatoshi

In a first, a 1.44 x 1.75” piece of art was sold to the lowest bidder, at a value of 1 millisatoshi ($0.000000037).

Crypto artist “cryptograffiti” has sold a tiny artwork in a “micro auction”. The platform used by the artist was Blockchain Art Collection where many like-minded artists display their masterpieces. The website not only gives room to these artists but also serves as a promotion site for the message of extreme utility of digital world.

‘Blockchain Art Collective provides a holistic art identity, which combines the functions of the artist’s signature, a paper or digital Certificate of Authenticity, and a paper or digital catalogue raisonné into a single, secured identity that is financially and referentially accessible to the art world.’

According to the artist’s reddit post, the aim behind this artwork was the promotion of the lightning network and make fun of MSM’s focus on Bitcoin’s price.

Cryptograffiti’s profile on The Blockchain Artwork Collection outlines his approach to produce:

‘Cryptograffiti’s current work repurposes materials from industries being disrupted by the blockchain.  These materials will shortly become scarce even though the monetary systems from which they were derived are not.  By incorporating these soon-to-be extinct artifacts in his work he teaches others about the advantages of cryptocurrencies vs the status quo banking sector.’

The Blockchain Artwork Collection is a newly created platform that accomodates blockchain technology and provides space to artists that work their magic with the digital world.

‘Our solutions combine new technologies to deliver unprecedented authentication and provenance tracking capabilities, creating a decentralized, connected, and trusted asset registry for the art world, while uncovering value for artists, collectors, and institutions alike.’

Check out their website, it’s a delightful collection of artworks.
