Ethereum (ETH) has enjoyed the status of being the world’s second largest cryptocurrency for a very long period of time but recently, it was taken over by XRP in terms of market capitalization. When it comes to its price, ETH has enjoyed its highs above the $1,000 mark but things have not proven to be so good for the asset since then. The asset has largely fallen down, just like the grades of the students in a very difficult subject.
At the time of writing, ETH is floating around $103, as per www.coinmarketcap.com. Since the market is crypto is very volatile, predictions are being made each day regarding the prices of various crypto assets. Ethereum is one of the top-notch cryptocurrencies, and the people aren’t holding themselves back from commenting about it. Everybody is there to give an opinion. But the thing is, nobody knows for sure what is going to happen.
In the past, we have seen speculations and predictions going wrong. People who were suggesting ethereum would hit $1,500 by the end of 2018, where are they now? Let’s take a look at what kind of predictions are we talking about.
Earlier this year, the co-founder of Reddit, one of the most top-notch companies of the world, Alexis Ohanian predicted that bitcoin would be hitting $20,000 by the end of this year and ethereum will touch $1,500. Alexis, a seasoned entrepreneur and VC of the venture capital firm Initialized Capital, was wrong in his prediction…only 12 days are remaining for 2018 so let’s just say we have reached the end of the year.
Where will be the asset by the end of 2019, 2020 or 2025, one can only speculate. Nobody knows for sure. The uncertainty that is attached to the world of cryptos is very high. One day we see the market going up, and the next day, we see it down in the dust.
With all this data, let’s just establish the fact that one does not know what will happen in the future. But yes, there are some trends that are observed. Developments are being made in this world at a rapid pace. If official acceptance increases regarding the crypto assets and platforms like a crypto-linked exchange-traded fund (ETF) and Bakkt spring up providing people with the easy access to cryptos, we might see a boost in prices. But there are a lot of variables. One thing seems sure, ETH will move…up or down, that just can’t be said for sure.
With the market saturation in the crypto world going up, it will be interesting to see how things pan out for ETH in 2019.
