CTO Gunner Technology Says the Future of Bitcoin is Bleak

Debates regarding the future of bitcoin are always going on in the financial space. While its proponents are of the view that bitcoin is the technology of the future, its skeptics don’t seem to think so at all due to issues that are associated with it.

BlockPublisher recently got in touch with the Chief Technology Officer of Gunner Technology,  an AWS Partner specializing in JavaScript development for government and business, Dary Merckens as he expressed his opinions regarding the future of bitcoin. The following Q&A helps one understand the narrative presented forward by Dary.

  • What is the future of Bitcoin?

Dary: “The future of Bitcoin is bleak. It might not even last the year. Pretty soon it’ll only be used for its original purpose: making illegal transactions on the dark web.”

Will it replace fiat in the future?

Dary: ” Bitcoin will never replace fiat currency! Never, ever, ever. There is absolutely zero chance that Bitcoin will even be around in 10 years, let alone replace the global currency system. That’s absolutely ludicrous.”

Is it safe to use?

Dary: “Sure, it’s safe to use, so long as you use it right away. If you’re buying and holding Bitcoin, you’re a fool. But if you need to buy something with Bitcoin, buying it and transferring it won’t do any harm. (It might do some harm, honestly, as Bitcoin has lost several percentage points of value in the span of an hour in the past.) ”

It has been just over a decade since bitcoin erupted out on the scene. Due to the lack of concrete regulatory frameworks, a lot of illegal activities have seeped into this space. The connotation attached with bitcoin overall is largely negative. There is a lack of trust regarding this digital asset in the general public and among the official entities owing to the illegal activities and scams linked to it.

Moving forward into the future, the situation seems to be too unclear. Nothing can be said for sure. The market is too volatile and uncertain. The only thing that seems certain with bitcoin is its uncertainty. Will we see it getting widespread adoption? Will it get acceptance on an official level? Will this market get regulated? And most importantly, will this asset even survive in the future? These are some of the questions that need to be answered. 2019 seems to be very important in this regard. Let’s stick around and see what happens as we move into the future.
