Ninety deaths to be exact.
According to the Bitcoin Obituaries webpage, the cryptocurrency died NINETY times in 2018. And since the creation of Satoshi’s grand invention, it would have died a total of 336 times, only a few times away from it to hit a full 360!
Ever since the general public got a whiff of cryptocurrency, it has repeatedly died. The financial bigwigs, well-known pundits, economists, and Wall Street executives have all explained in their own way how bitcoin has died at least once for them.
Time and again media outlets have also declared bitcoin dying an untimely death. Out of the 336, 2018 claimed 90 of those deaths when the crypto-economy was hopeless all year long.
It would have been safe to assume that since cryptocurrency did so well in 2017, it would be a bit more stable and die a little less the following year, unfortunately, that is not how it went down for bitcoin.
Get ready for some heartbreaking news.
Upon some research, in 2018 most top currencies lost their 80 percent value. As we all know Bitcoin hit a $20,000 and then came crashing down to $4,000 by the end of this year.
The last death of 2018 was announced by Anthony Garcia in his post titled “Bitcoin: the decline is fundamental, unsolvable, and the end of BTC.” In which she stated:
Bitcoin is literally worth nothing — Bitcoin has no chance of success because it’s worthless. It has nothing backing it but an illusion; no gold or silver or even a decree that it’s legal tender. It has no intrinsic value and no one needs it.
Many professors even gave their input by saying that this once famous digital asset is the victim of a death spiral. Some notorious writers even called it the ‘mother of all bubbles’.
They went on to spew hate against blockchain as well, saying that “blockchain technology is nothing better than a glorified spreadsheet or database.”
One thing is for sure and that is as long as these bigwigs like Warren Buffet’s continue to add their two cents regarding bitcoin then it will surely die every day. For them, bitcoin is a gimmick, maybe because they haven’t mastered the art of this financial tool.
Bitcoin started of small, peaked and then came crashing down in 2017 and 2018. Is a bad year or a bad life for crypto following this fall? What do you think?
Despite all that has happened this year what do you have to say regarding crypto and it’s 90 deaths? Is the number bound to increase or do you have a glimmer of hope that it will bounce back again?
