The crypto rankings are in and the Chinese government has given its verdict. China just released its latest government- sponsored rankings of major cryptocurrencies. And surprisingly enough, the king of the crypto hill, Bitcoin (BTC), isn’t at the top. It isn’t even amongst the top 10 cryptos; it is actually placed 15th!
According to the press release on Jan. 24, EOS reserved the top spot in the ranking and has been topping the rankings since the June of 2018. There was another index that came out in the December of last year, and EOS topped that as well. Despite finding itself in the middle of a controversy, when EOS’s governance model was exposed by evidence suggesting that some confirmed transactions were reversed.
The crypto rankings were first announced in the May of last year, by China’s Center for Information and Industry Development (CCID). This ranking that just came out is the ninth edition of the index.
Following EOS at number two, is Ethereum (ETH), which is the same place it held in the rankings of December last year, after the postponement of the hard fork by Ethereum’s developers until late February.
Coming back to Bitcoin, its current position is actually a step up from the rankings in December 2018, according to which it was 18th in place.
Meanwhile, Ripple (XRP), which just launched a blockchain research scholarship in partnership with a major Chinese research university last week, sits at the 20th spot. For further updates, stay tuned to BlockPublisher.
